  • Standing Committees
    • Service - Chairs: Sarah Pederson and Janhavi Das
      • This committee coordinates volunteering efforts for SEC. Events include the Halloween Canned Food Drive and EWaste Drive.

    • Social - Chair: Ed Panuska
      • This committee coordinates events such as IM teams for SEC and social events throughout the year.

    • Publicity - Chairs: Kelvin Hypolite and Helen Zeng
      • This committee helps publicize events for SEC through flyers, posters, and logo design.

    • IT - Chairs: Erik Eyberg and Isaac Aggrey
      • This committee maintains our server, office computing systems, SEC website, and websites of SEC events.

    • Academic Affairs - Chairs: Darius Bunandar and Sagi Zisman
      • This committee coordinates undergraduate research opportunities as well as Town Hall Meetings, which the Dean attends..

  • Special Committees
    • Freshman Engineering Council (FEC) - Chairs: Andrew Cross and EJ Gibson
      • This committee is dedicated to the recruiting and retention of freshman.

    • Daily Planner - Chairs: Andrew Hanson and Kelvin Hypolite
      • This committee works during the summer to create the new planner for engineering students which are distributed in the fall semester.

    • Halloween Canned Food Drive (HCFD) - Chairs: JiaJia Xu & Emily Chen
      • This is one of the largest food drives in the Austin area. Last year, we collected more than 12,000 pounds of food to benefit the Capitol Area Food Bank.

    • Vector - Editors: Jose Parakkat and An Nguyen
      • This committee is dedicated to putting together the Vector newspaper for the engineering student body. It includes articles written by engineering organizations.

    • Alternative Energy Challenge (AEC) - Chairs: Jason Clark and James Kubricht
      • This committee coordinates an annual event where teams design and compete in a task that involves creating a way to use alternative energy.

    • Corporate Chili Cookoff (September)
      • A tasty interaction with industry where students vote on which company’s chili is the best.

    • Halloween Canned Food Drive (HCFD) (October)
      • One of the largest food drives in Austin

    • Festivus (December)
      • Festivus is a nondenominational holiday featured in an episode of Seinfeld. An aluminum pole is generally used in lieu of a Christmas tree or other holiday decoration. SEC adopts a family and the student organizations buy the gifts on their wish list.

    • Engineering Day at the Museum (EDAM) (February)
      • EDAM is an outreach program designed to inform elementary, middle school, and high school students on the basics of what engineering is all about.

    • EWEEK (February)
      • National Engineers Week is a week-long celebration of the engineering profession. The Student Engineering Council hosts events where engineering organizations compete throughout the week to promote the engineering profession and build a sense of community in the Cockrell School of Engineering.

    • Faculty Appreciation Week (March)
      • Faculty Appreciation Week is a weeklong event designed to honor the faculty members that go the "extra mile" in our education. Awards are given each year to outstanding faculty members in the college and will continue this year.

    • Rivals Week (April)
      • This committee coordinates with the Undergraduate Business Council to put on a week of competition between the two councils.
