What is the e-Cycling Drive?
The goal of the electronic recyling drive is to collect household electronic items such as computers, cell phones printers, scanners, and other electronic devices. By working with Goodwill, we have been able to gather over 6400 cubic feet of electronics, a copious amount from the city of Austin. The accumulated electronics are then transported to Goodwill’s electronic facility where any working components are salvaged and the rest is disposed of properly. The planning structure consists of three sub-committees working around the logistics of the event, publicizing the drive, and gathering support through volunteers. The third electronic cycling drive hosted by UT SEC was held last April. Last year, over 200 people volunteered to unload electronic waste from approximately 500 cars. The drive turned out so well that Goodwill representatives use the drive as an example of a well-planned, well-executed event. Of course, the success of the electronic waste drive can be attributed to the hard work and effort of all those involved.
When will the eWaste Drive occur?
