Safety Day Makeathon is an overnight design competition, in which student teams design and build a safety-themed machine while competing for cash prizes. Every year, twelve teams of 3-5 students create a machine to complete a safety-themed task. This design competition also incorporates the use of the Longhorn Maker Studios where students can use 3D printers, laser cutters, and a workshop full of hand tools to design and create their machines.
