Academic Affairs Committee
Committee Chair: Rishi Garg

Overview:
The purpose of the Academic Affairs Committee is to improve the academic experience of all undergraduates at the Cockrell School of Engineering. The committee currently strives to increase the number of undergraduates involved in research and also to improve communication between administrators/faculty and students.
List of Existing Events:
- Every spring, we celebrate the most outstanding professor in each department during Faculty Appreciation Week.
- Last year, we worked with the Student Affairs Office to put up the first Poster Exhibition and Engineering Research Symposium (PEERS). PEERS is composed of two events: a research poster competition for undergraduate engineering students, and a symposium where students can hear about professors' research and get more information on how to get involved with research at UT.
Future Plans:
- Working on establishing Academic Advisory Boards in each of the engineering departments. Over the past year we succeded in establishing an Advisory Board for both Civil and Biomedical Engineering departments.
- In the process of a starting an undergraduate research database to link interested undergraduates to available research positions.
